Meep Meep was a project for the C-MD module Creative Design. It was loosely based on a parternship with iCity. iCity was a large project exploring the possibilities of a wireless city network. Imagine a city the size of Hasselt (Belgium), a test public of 600 enthusiasts given free personal digital assistants to play with and an enormous budget of millions of dollars sponsored by big shot industry leaders like Microsoft and Telenet. A guest lecture was given by one of iCity's spokespersons following a brainstorm session. It quickly became clear that our ideas were a little bit too wild and creative for the more business minded iCity. So the link between iCity and Creative Design stopped there. In my opinion this was a good thing because it gave us more room for experimentation. My project was a training application for joggers. I ignored the limitations of the current pda's with a resolution of 320x240 and stylus based input and figured it would only be logical for the screens and hardware to grow in size and speed allowing for richer interactive interfaces with video. I knew I was onto something when a few weeks after the concept presentation Apple and Nike announced their partnership for Nike Plus. A jogging application for iPod Nano's. Looking back now, it's even more funny if you realise all my predictions came true. Yes, I am refering to the iPhone ofcourse!
