The assignement for this project was to create an online magazine with a self chosen topic. We chose the subject of Belgian cinema which we felt was completely underrated and lacked media attention at the time. My involvement in the project was mostly strategic and content related. Writing articles, conducting interviews and abusing my newly acquired press status to scoop around at movie events, such as the première of "Buiten Spel" by director Jan Verheyen.
During the conceptual development of this project we bumped into a clash between flemish and walloon cinemasts, who were not only divided by their subsidization but also differed in mindset. Instead of a drawback we considerd this an extra challenge. The objective of our magazine shifted towards bringing both sides togheter and create a mutual appreciation.
The name of the magazine was Cut Magazine because it sounded bold and rebellious, almost shocking. This sort of matched with the allure of Belgian's movie scene consisting mostly of alternative and low budget indie productions. Coincidently during the finnishing phase of the project we found another magazine with a simmilar name which turned out to be a movie magazine as well.
